Engineering operationalization of the objective function by eliminating essentialism. 1

When addressing the questions of personality backup and continuity, I deliberately avoid essentialist arguments to narrow the problem down to engineering operations. By bypassing unresolved core questions—such as the nature of identity or whether a copy is "me"—and treating them as solved, the only remaining task is the engineering challenge of designing an objective function. Attempting to grasp "the self" as an inherent essence is a category error; clinging to such a notion only creates suffering.
