Non-negotiables aren't decided; they are discovered

Job hunting asks, “What is your core axis?” as if it’s something you can obtain simply by deciding on it. But non-negotiables are more like a blood type. They cannot be changed by will, created by declaration, and only appear in the records. This is not a matter of decision; it is a matter of diagnosis.

The real thing is already reflected in the records of your past. The things you refused to let go of even when it cost you. The things you returned to time and again, no matter how many times you quit. The thing that remained after you stripped everything else away. That is your constitution—your unchangeable nature.

The things you grew accustomed to while doing them can be left alone. You should look at the opposite—the things that make you hesitate every single time, no matter how many years pass; the things you never get used to. That isn’t a lack of effort; it’s a mismatch with your constitution. If you were told “you’ll get used to it by your third year” and you didn’t, that isn’t a wall—it’s a diagnostic result. Things you cannot get used to are not meant to be fixed; they are meant to be avoided through design.

Things you got used to vs. things you never get used to, no matter how many years pass

Therefore, there is no need to panic if you “don’t know what your non-negotiables are.” You simply don’t have enough records yet. Your constitution will not reveal itself just because you rush it. It reveals itself when you keep a record.

Your axis is already inside your body. All that’s left is to wait for the records to reflect it.
